AnalogX Proxy server

M

maddening

Have just installed this on my PC (no, it's not in Open mode!) and am
curious just how secure it is compared to other freebie/shareware
proxies.

Also, as my XP Pro machine has ICS installed and operating, will the
Firewall on that still be used even though the Win 98 client PC is
connecting to the newly installed Proxy on the XP machine?

Thanks

Running in closed mode eliminates the major security risk.

Enabling XP's Internet Connection Firewall on the network connection
that connects to the Internet should protect all of the computers from
access by other Internet users. To be sure, go to a web site that can
do a security scan and see what it shows. Here are some:

http://scan.sygatetech.com/
http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?productid=symhome&langid=ie&venid=sym

Why are you using both ICS and AnalogX? They're both ways to share an
Internet connection with other computers. Do they work OK together?
I'd use one or the other, but not both.

Thought as much, thanks.

Cheers for the links, will give them all a go. :)

I installed AnalogX's Proxy program because ICS was causing problems,
as a result of which I first tried Proxy with ICS and it worked, so
thought I may as well leave them both running. :)

No problems so far.

Ta for the info
