An Unknown Error has Occurred

For some reason, when I open up Windows Mail, the email I have in my inbox
says "Message cannot be displayed. Windows Mail encountered an unexplained
problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or
low disk space and try again." This is not the case. When I try to delete the
email, a message pops up saying "An Unknown Error has Occurred".

What do I do?

When you say to ignore it, will it ever go away. Is it a Windows Mail
problem or a Vista problem or both. Do you know why it happens? Thanks,
Martha

It's a Windows Mail problem. Just hold on until Microsoft releases
the replacement for Windows Mail in the next 6 days.

There will be a patch eventually, but Microsoft doesn't tell people when.

Is this official? Do you mean Windows Live Mail, because isn't this
just a new Hotmail (the MS site even confuses the two names).

I have the same problem. I can receive mail but unable to send any. been in
touch with my ISP and the company I get my emails from, they say theres no
problem with their systems. It must be Windows mail or my computer. I
believe this message is blocking the outbox. Its comforting to know others
have the same problem - all we need is a solution

Did you try this as posted many times by the MVPs here and Mike
This website was take care of the "stuck" outbox message
http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/
Cheers!
Mike Peterson

I have had the blocked outbox 5 times now and went the export all mail
messages , delete all message stores and then rebuild the account and copy
accross the messages. But just tried the above utility and it cleared the
blocked message , you have to do a ctl alt del key press and end the winmail
process . Ensure winmail is not active prior to this. Run the utility and
choose clear. It worked this time worth a go.

Thanks to Stephen L. Cochran for the program

Just exactly how is WLM "terrible"?

The educationally challenged 'tard was
struggling with punctuation and meant...

Don't believe the hype "it's terrible!"

No need to get emotional about it.
Why not let people decide for themselves?
If it turns out you don't like WLM, it is easy to go back to WM.

If you are a Norton of McAfee antivirus user uninstall it,
remove and recreate you email account in Windows Mail
reboot and try again.

Check for messages stuck in Outbox and clear any found
with http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx
Carefully follow ALL the instructions.

Use a Vista/Windows Mail compatible AV instead such as
Avast and omit the email scanning component.

Consider using WLM instead, it will adopt your account during install.

All four steps should take far less than an hour.
