An error occurred during the installation of the device

I have W2000, SP3. I plug a USB VideoBus II from Belkin@
(model F5U208) in my USB port and the "Found New Hardware
Wizard" windows display the following error:
An error occurred during the installation of the device.
The installation failed because a function driver was not
specified for this device instance.

Then it only allows me to click on the "Finish" buttom.
I've tried fixing this via "Hardware Profile" in "My
Computer's properties" without success. In this case,
Wizard suggest the c:\winnt\inf driver which lead to the
same problem. No mather if I choose "Have Disk", "CD"
or "Windows Update", I always fall to the same error
message:
An error occurred during the installation of the device.
The installation failed because a function driver was not
specified for this device instance.

You should try updating your motherboard chipset drivers
to the latest and then update DirectX to 9b.
Many drivers won't fully plugNplay without these two
layers being set first.
Some techs even say to reinstall DirectX after updating
any drivers. I always do it first.
There are also some patches that improve the installation
of drivers available from the Windows Update site.
