an angelic USB printer with good color

hi, my experience with printers is that

Epson Stylus Color 2 was satanic. Very noisy, cleaned itself when you
turned it on, took ages before it would start. I wouldn't touch epson
anymore.

The HP Printers seem to come in different qualities.

HP 3550 sucks up too much paper the whole time, only trust it with
about 3 sheets at a time.

The HP deskjet 960c has really shitty color. Is it because the HP 78
cartridge is shit?

The HP Deskjet 895cxi is amazing, I think it's got ok color, and it
rarely sucks up too many pages. But it's not USB.

It seems that the HP printers where you put the paper in almost
verically and it comes out horizontally tend to be able to take a good
amount of paper.
They're well designed that way. But i'm not sure if they have good
color too.

Any advice on what printer to get? I don't want a top of the range.
Just one that can print the 256 or so different colors that I could
draw in a Word document from the drawing toolbar. The HP 3550 with
its shitty HP78 cartridge seems incapable of printing red - at least
not in MS word.

Well my 5 year old HP895cxi has a USB 1.0 port and it works great on USB.
I've refilled the carts numerous times and get very good results. The only
problem I have is feeding in cheap and nasty thin envelopes - the spring
that pushes them over to the right hand side for alignment is slightly too
strong.
