According to sources, AMD will release two new processors on Tuesday, the Athlon XP 2700+ and 2800+, its fastest processors to date.

These chips will not only have a faster clock speed than earlier models, but will also introduce a faster FSB speed of 333mhz, over the previous 266mhz that Athlons use now. This should give it about a 10% boost in performance at the same clock speed.

My problem with this is that we haven't even layed our eyes on the 2400+ and 2600+ yet, and AMD's already releasing something faster. Is something just fundementally wrong with these paper launches that AMD seems to be doing lately. I mean, this will be 4 launched processors that we haven't even seen yet. The fastest you can buy right now is the 2200+, that's 600 PR points slower than than the new chips set to be released.

My advice to AMD...don't get caught up in your own marketing games.

Updated: Now that these processors are officially launches, Ian and Wildone were kind enough to post some links to some of the reviews of these processors that have been popping up during the past few days. Check out the comments for more info.
