AMD CPU prices - why?

I am looking on AMD 2 chips:

AMD Athlon 64 3300+ 2.40GHz / 256KB Cache / 1600MHz FSB / OEM / Socket
754 / Processor

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.40GHz / 512KB Cache / 2000MHz FSB / Socket AM2 /
64-bit (Windsor) / Processor with Fan

In Tigerdirect the first one cost $131, the second cost $117.
Judging by parameters only - isn't the cheaper one looks better? Bigger
cache and higher FSB speed.
Where is the catch?

You're not comparing like with like. One is a Socket 754 which is
obsolete, the other AM2.

Socket 754 is dead hence the chips that are left are old stock and a
higher price as AMD slashed the cost of CPUs quite a fair bit this last
quarter.
