AMD 64 Cooling question

Can I replace the fan only on the stock cooler that came with my AMD64 754
pin?

I'd like to quiet things down in there, but I'd rather not have to peel off
the old unit from the CPU. BTW, what size is the stock fan?

Also, what would be the best way to go for noise? I have an Aspire Turbo
case with a loud 80mm fan in the side panel and a spot for a 120mm on the
back.

Should I replace the side panel fan with say a Panaflow 21db or remove the
side panel fan and add a quiet 120mm rear fan?

Thanks!

Measure it.

120mm will shift more air at a lower speed thus also a lower noise
level.
