Stop wasting my time.
I've seen many people try and toss Linux.
However, being the Linux loon that you are I know full well had I posted
those accounts you would claim I was lying.

So that's why I posted a 3rd party experience....

Give it up already, I am at least 5 steps ahead of you loons....

I posted personal experience... and I am betting it will be met with just
the response you predict. We shall see.

If you read the whole article it plainly shows that part of Linux demise
at that school was more of MS keeping competition out. They switched to
laptops that had Vista And Office preloaded and that was non-negotiable
on the schools end.

We are transitioning our server software from Windows to Linux, and in
general we replace 5-8 comparable Windows servers with one Linux
server, due to improved performance. When we started, I thought that I
would be managing a big server farm, but now it looks like it will be
a small server farm.

Fact : either you are a liar OR you are incompetent.

I wonder which it is.

Neither. I still remember the days in a company where the Netware servers
were to be replaced by Win-NT servers.
They ended up with 4 times as many boxen (more powerfull ones, too) and
still had not migrated everything and so had to continue running Netware on
one machine.
The switch was done by MS certified personnel, BTW. Just that you can stick
your "incompetent" accusation where the suns don't shine

Windows is incredibly shoddy as a server OS, and few things have gotten
better with the latest offerings

Exactly. Window will cost you more than money. How much is time worth?

Linux costs you, if you want to get picky about "How much is time worth".
There is (to me) three types of linux distro, newbie, intimdiate &
advanced, and the same applies to the linux user. Some users are smarter
and pick stuff up quicker. On the other hand, others are slower and more
cautious, Im in the 2nd group. Im not thick, not saying I am, but Ive
spent a lot of time and effort in getting linux to work for me. Its been
slow and painful, but well worth it, so the initial outlay may have been
zero, but Ive gained bucket loads in experience.
