I know for sure I read on the ms site about installing xp on a large
partition like 60gigs? and up and the problems it can cause. Now I can't
find the article but making a 20gig partition inside a 180gig drive and
installing xp inside it seems to have fixed the problem. Anyone heard about
installing xp in a large hard drive?

I have XP installed on 120GB hard disk single partition without any problem.
Make sure your MB is capable of supporting large drives.
