always getting viruses

Todd

I recently bought a new hard drive. I installed w2k for
the first time. I use McAfee Viruscan Home. I have all
of the windows updates and Viruscan is up to date. I can
not seem to keep up with all of the worms out there. This
one is one of a few that recur: W32/Randex.worm.c. I am
new to w2k. Can anyone help?

Hi Todd. The main three things you can do are - 1. Install a properly
configured firewall, either a hardware nat/router device or a
personal/software firewall. Zone Alarm is free and adequate for a novice
user. 2. Use antivirus that is kept up to date, ideally automatically and
make sure it also scans emails - that is where the biggest vulnerability is
for you. 3. Keep up with Windows critical updates at Windows Update which
can also be configured to be automatic. Additionaly use a program like
Adaware to periodically remove spyware and other junk from your
computer. --- Steve
