"Always ask before opening this type of file" dialog box

I tried to open an Access Application on a web page, it
poped up with a
"File Download" window asking the user with the following
choices, Open,
Save, Close and More Info. Also the Checkbox for
the "Always ask before this
type of file" is GREY OUT i.e. not available. So I
clicked on on the "More
Info" button to get more information. Under the "note" it
stated the
following:

"The Always ask before opening this type of file check
box is not available
for some file types, such as files with the
extensions .exe or .com, which
run programs or commands. When this check box is not
available, you will
always be asked before opening this type of file."

Wait a minute I just want to open the Access database
with the file
extension .mdb and it is not the file type with the
extensions .exe or .com.
So is there a way to get rid of this annonying "File
Download" dialog box? I
understand that the need to control the type of file to
open for the
security reason. But at least Windows XP should give the
end user the choice
to select the type of file to use this security option.
Agree...

I searched the Microsoft web site and Microsoft said that
there a "Prototype" fix for it for peoeple contact
microsoft directly as mentioned in the web page:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us%
3B822232

Can I have the fix please?

I had a similar problem with a script i was running on the local network.
but i think the same would apply. you need to add the site to a trusted
section in IE under the security tab.

Hi Kevin:

Thank you for your advice. It does not work on the Access apllication with
the file extension mdb. I tested it with the Trust Site method by assigning
the http://localhost as a trust site and tested the web site to open an
Access application and it still poped up with that stupid "File Download"
dialog box. Thanks

Another thought... In folder options have a look at file types. search for
mdb. Click advance. There is a tick box confirm open after download. Try
having that un-ticked. You may need a restart!?
