Alternative way to remove hotfix kb824141

I have Windows XP Media Center. I need to remove hotfix kb824141 for a program called Avid Xpress Pro to work correctly. When I try to do it through the Add and Remove Programs method I get an error that states that a file "user32.dll" needs to be copied but it says it can't find it. If I ignore the error Windows won't work again, so I do a system recover.

How do I go around this? hotfix kb824141 came with the PC, I'm guessing this is the source of my problems.

I need urgent help.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Mike,

I found out what the HotFix is, It's one of 4 secirity patches. I
recomend never installing it. Since your machine already has it... you
need to contact dell support tell them what HotFix is, since there the
ones who installed it and created it they will know how to fix it. I'm
a PC Tech and will be more then happy to research further and contact
Dell for you and then walk you though on how to remove it. If you
would like me to do so, please contact me at
(e-mail address removed) and I will give you rates and etc. If
not I hope this information helps.
