I have a desktop with Windows ME that comes with Microsoft
Word 2000. But I just recently purchased a laptop with
WIndows XP that does not come with Microsoft Word. I was
wondering if I am able to use my Word 2000 from my desktop
to my new laptop. Thanks whoever can help.

I've searched the Microsoft web site and can't find a reference. Your EULA
(end user license agreement) will specify how you can use the product. You
will be able to find the EULA in the help for your installation of Word.

I don't know if the same rules apply to individual Office components (e.g.
Word, Excel, etc) as apply to Office as a whole. You need to check that by
reading your EULA.

As I understand it, a retail copy (boxed product) of Office 2000 can be
installed on one desktop and one laptop for the same user. An OEM copy of
Office 2000 can be installed only on the original computer and cannot be
transferred.

If you purchased Word with the original machine, it is most likely an OEM
product.

Hope this helps

For info, this post is out of context for this group.

It should have gone somewhere like microsoft.public.office.misc.

Cheers
