I have installed the beta as Gary V. suggested in an earlier response to a
user and I still get:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account: 'Susan',
Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

My ISP is Comcast. I downloaded the FREE McAfee on my main system and have
had a problem ever since with outgoing email. Is there anyway to disable the
SMTP blocking in McAfee?

You need to uninstall McAfee completely. Disabling it is
not sufficient.

Gary, I saw in your earlier comments to uninstall. I just got around to
doing it and sent a test message to myself. It went through with no problem.
(This is from my main system.) I am going to try it later with my VISTA
system and see how that pans out. I appreciate you taking the time to inform
us of issues/resolutions. Funny though it kept coming back with the
following message (yes, I had 2 AV's on my system)

"This is the AVG E-mail Scanner program.

I'm sorry to have to inform you that the message returned
below could not be delivered to one or more destinations.
The E-mail server has responded with the following error:

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Receive: : A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not
properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed
because connected host has failed to respond. (10060)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Your e-mail message is being returned to you in the next part of this
message. Try to send the message again.

Should you need assistance, please contact your administrator or your
Internet service provider."

Yes, I had McAfee installed as well. Again, thank you this post has been a
really big help for me. I contacted Comcast and they have no clue they had
me change the smtp to 587 in stead of 25 and then told me they don't support
Outlook! Wow! Again and Again and Again THANK YOU!!!! I can now reply to
some jobs that I have been trying to send my resume to! Wahoo!!

Glad it seems to be working now.
Running two AV's is a definite no-no.

Ok, I still get the following message with the new and improved beta email
client of Windows Mail/Outook Express:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'testin sg', Account:
'Susan', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL):
No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Like others, this just started happening last week. It was working fine
prior to that. email still will not send out! ugggghhhhh.
