All Downloaded Files Open In IE6

Clara

Every file I try to download when I'm using IE6
automatically opens up in IE6, including extensions
like .exe or .zip or whatever.

How do I stop this from happening?

Somewhere in the windows registry something needs to be
changed?
I looked in the internet explorer part of the registry.
What are the default key settings?

The downloads don't automatically open when I'm using the
Opera browser. It asks me if I want to save the file;
that's what I want IE6 to do.

-I figured out how to get autorun on my cd-rom working
again through the registry... yay for me!
But I can't figure this IE6 out

plz help

1. Open Explorer
2. Click the TOOLS menu
3. Select FOLDER OPTIONS
4. Then select FILE TYPES tab

Locate the file type (extension), click ADVANCED and click EDIT.
Note the "confirm download" box. Check it.
