ALL documents are locked. How do I fix?

Every document I open plus new documents are locked (a message on the bottom
says "the selection is locked"). On top of that, most of the menus and
buttons in the program are also locked. Most fields are grayed out, I can't
create new documents, save documents, edit existing documents....and I don't
know how I did this. Does anyone know how to fix???

Forgot to mention, I am running Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007.

Have you activated the product? Or is a trial version that has expired?

I hadn't, but when the problem started I did activate it today April 7th.
That didn't seem to change anything.
