alg.exe ?

Just wondered what it is, and why that little green Norton globe that shoots
out from the right hand of my screen, advises me that it's trying to get
out onto the web. I had a quick Google and found :-

Process File: alg or alg.exe
Process Name: Application Layer Gateway Service
Description: Part of Internet Connection Sharing application and Internet
Connection Firewall for windows XP.this Service provides support for 3rd
party protocol plug ins for Internet Connection Sharing application and
Internet Connection Firewall.
Company: Microsoft Corp.
System Process: Yes
Security Risk ( Virus/Trojan/Worm/Adware/Spyware ): No
Common Errors: N/A

I think I may have been queried by Norton, in the past, and chose "no" or
"block" and "always use this action..."

regards, Richard

.
If you are using nortons firewall you can shut off the
one that comes with xp.The alert tracker shoots out to
draw your attention to it so you know that something is
going on if you dont like it you can disable it.
Alg.exe is a normal xp funtion the next time this happens
create a rule with norton to allow it.
