Alerter service

When I try to start this service, I get the following error:

Could not start the Alert service on Local Computer.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

I've tried setting the service to automatic and it still doesn't start.
Anyone knows how to fix this?

Is the "Workstation" service started and running?
