AIW 9800 problem with GA-XKNP Ultra MB in Windows XP

I have a relatively new AIW 9800 Pro with Gigabtype GA-XKNP Ultra MB. I'm
experiencing unscheduled (not
initiated by the PC operator) system reboot problems using Windows XP. Has
anyone experienced similar problems? My main suspicion is the ATI 8x video
card, but I don't have a solid reason for that to be true. Far below is
more detailed system configuration I'm using.

On a separate hard drive I am using Windows 2000 that is much more stable
(although I have been dumped with Win2k.sys errors under W2K).

Right now I don't consider my Windows XP OS as being usable due to its
instability. Any help with Windows XP fixes/solutions would be appreciated.

MB GA-8KNXP Ultra
Windows 2000 boot hard drive - 73 GB Seagate 320 mb/sec SCSI
XP boot hard drive - 80 GB IDE Maxtor, not SATA.
My SATA drive is a non-booter.
Video ATI AIW 9800 Pro.
Kinston Memory - 1 GB (2 512 mb cards)
All boot and system partitions are NTFS.

I can live with Windows 2000 for now, but my plan was to use Windows XP, as
I know Microsoft will stop supporting W2K at some time in the future.

Thanks for any assistance.

And they won't ever stop supporting XP? Wow! ;-)

Your system is set to automatically reboot when there are errors. Turn off
the automatic reboot so that you will get a blue screen with the reported
error. That will give you some clue as to what is going on. In my
experience system reboots are usually due to hardware failure. First on my
list is bad memory, then video drivers, then inadequate power supply.
