Wasn't sure where to post this but. ok so every 10 minutes my computer
shutsdown and I get a bios prompt that says.

The following configuration options were automatically updated:

CD-ROM: Compaq CRD-8484B
CD-ROM: Pioneer DVD-RW

No IDE fixed disk present

F1: Save Changes Compaq presario 6029us

Anyway of disabling this damn update? It shutsdown my comp every 10 min
and brings me to that. It's driving me crazy!! Please help. :(

Are you able to boot completely into Windows? That "No IDE fixed disk
present" error leads me to believe its a hard drive problem. How old is the
laptop?

It is almost surely not a Windows problem, because the CMOS is not storing
the drive data between boots. Like Zim said, try replacing the motherboard
battery. Also, if the computer is old, you could have a faulty/underpowered
power supply, that is not supplying enough juice when the hard drive spins up
/ boots.

Is it possible to disable updates before it even updates the drives?
Because i'm sure you can disable automatic updates such as this right?
Possibly something to disable in services

this has nothing to do with Windows services or updates!!!

This BIOS/CMOS configuration changes/updates!!!
