agp440.sys is keeping me from using my computer...

Long back story, but after installing ATI's new 5.9 drivers my system went to
hell. Two calls to MS later I find my self here as Im sure other customers
will be more helpful then the guy from india I could hardly understand would
be.

If I start up into safe mode, I get froze or restarted at agp440.sys, this
wouldn't be a problem if I could access the windows repair console... but I
cant. Everytime I try to boot from disk I get a BSOD, that refrences several
diff problems. 8e, 7e, and several others.

Im about to pull my hair out to get my system up and running again, but
before I make my self bald and switch to a lesser OS I figured Id make this
post. Thanks for any help.

What happens if you go ahead and try the enable VGA mode? That's the usual
method to get around graphics drivers. I'd try that and then doing a
roll-back of the drivers to the last version. When you go to enter safe mode
use the arrow keys to navigate to the Enable VGA mode, also consider last
known good configuration. If you want to look at the screen before you try
it head here:

Safe Mode :

If you absolutely can't get in (and the BSOD in the RC is puzzling at best -
scary at worst as it leans my thinking towards a hardware issue) then a
repair installation generally means that you'd only need to reinstall the
updates to the OS.

If indeed you cannot boot with Last Known Good Configuration or Safe Mode
or Enable VGA Mode and cannot boot from your XP CD in order to get to
Recovery Console, then you probably need to shut the computer down and
physically remove the ATI card.
You probably have an onboard graphics controller, so then try booting to
Safe Mode again. If successful, try going to Device Manager and see if the
ATI
driver is still listed under Display Adapters. If so go to the properties of
it and
then the Driver Tab and choose to Roll Back the driver and then shut the
computer
down instead of restarting it and then replace your ATI card and then see if
you
can boot normally.
