AGP BIOS settings

There is uaually an AGP Aperture setting in the BIOS of
motherboards with an AGP port. It's values are usually
64 - 256mb. I would geuss that it has to do with memory,
but does anyone know exactly what it does? Or what
setting a 256 megabyte card should have?

The AGP aperture is the size of system memory that your AGP card is
allowed to access. The size you should set it to depends on the amount
RAM you have in your system if you have 512MB or less then 128MB would
be about right if you have more than 512MB then 256MB would be a wise
choice.

DO NOT touch AGP Aperture setting in the BIOS and leave it default unless
you thoroughly tested the overall system and video performance.

AGP Aperture size is the amount of system RAM shared with an AGP graphics
card in order for it to have more memory to process textures and other
visual data. It would be utilized only when needed but too high setting may
hog the whole system.
