Sorry why is this a "scandal"? This is pretty common behaviour between
businesses. Do you think extras that come with cars etc. cost nothing?

The games industry is bigger than the movie industry, 8 million is
probably not a much as some seem to think it is.

I'd like to see the numbers to support the assertion that "the games
industry is bigger than the movie industry". The games industry takes in
more than the ticket sales for the movie industry. Ticket sales are only a
small part of revenue for the movie industry.

not my experience for sure.
ATI: problems with almost all new games I got at the time. Sure, 1 or 2
weeks later a patch from the developer or ATI fixed them, but why
should I wait? At a point I was downloading updated drivers like
monthly.
NVidia: 0 problems whatsoever with all games I've installed in my
computer. Once in a long while (like every 6 months) I download the
latest NVidia drivers just in case, but never needed to do it because
of a problem so far.

ATI cards have historically been somewhat faster than their NVidia
counterparts, but if the price for this is having to wait for patches
for any game I want to play, forget it. I'll take the 60 FPS instead
of 62

I have simply never had these experiences. Nor do I know anyone who has
had these experiences.

Well I have had the opposite experience, I have had to go looking for
patches for my nvidia cards to get games to play, ATI has been perfect. So
really , to each his own I guess

I used to have lots of trouble with ATI cards (drivers) until I switched to
Nvidia cards perhaps six years ago. I only had Nvidia troubles with Arx
Fatalis, but that was a very time consuming issue. Now I have an ATI card
once again (X700pro, was basically free), and I haven't noticed any of the
problems I recall from the past. So, it's probably like you say: an highly
individual, perhaps game/model-specific experience.

Nvidia probably wanted to give $8 million to Valve to produce HL2,
but ATI just got to them before Nvidia did. Both companies want to
promote their products. I have both Nvidia and ATI cards in my
computer systems. I like them both, but problems do occur. I think
if you buy Nvidia, you might run into problems that ATI cards don't
have and vice versa.

that means i'm not against valve the pc game developer
that means i'm not against the pc games valve creates

Must be why you flamed Valve for months, and attacked everyone who bought
HL2.

Inconsistency does not lead to credibility.

x-no-archive: yes

At least it makes sense now why you use that. So that it's harder to easily
prove that you contradict your own statements and claims frequently. Won't
really work, though, since people like me keep their own archives.

Well, anyway, at first I actually listened to your concerns, but by now I
think you're a lunatic. Pretty much ruined it for yourself and harmed your
alleged cause more than any pro-Steam people could have. That's the actual
tragedy, as Steam really is a poor system.
