again a scandal involving valve this time with ati

You've been touched by Valve.

I hope he sues your paranoid ass.

Roughly 0.8 Doom3's, or 0.5 Half-Life 2's, or 0.2 Jade Empire's.

Not even close. But then you don't buy PC games, don't play PC games,
in fact have no clue about anything PC.

Another impressive rant from the paranoid loser.
How can anyone not see that you're mentally ill?

I'm wondering, what will happen if in the future, both ATi and nVidia
supports STEAM/Valve games, then what will SK do? Buy a Delta Chrome? I hope
ALL GPU manufacturer cooperates and promotes STEAM/Valve. Then we will not
see SK posting anymore, or if we see him, we can safely call him a liar,
since he is still using a display card...

He proved himself to be the worlds biggest hypocrite last month when
he admitted he has just bought Half Life.

Oh he did? Darn! I missed it...I gotta remove SK from my kill file...he is
providing entertaiment even better than Desperate Housewives!

He did it in his own monthly poll thread. It just proves how truly
stupid he is, at least if he bought it, he should have enough sense to
keep quiet about it.
Hope he will next made an apperance in CSI, as the victim of a vicious cold
blooded murder (decap and gutting will be great!)

No, CSI is fictitious. Although the thought of his autopsy would be
amusing, "this head has no brain in it".

not my experience for sure.
ATI: problems with almost all new games I got at the time. Sure, 1 or 2
weeks later a patch from the developer or ATI fixed them, but why
should I wait? At a point I was downloading updated drivers like
monthly.
NVidia: 0 problems whatsoever with all games I've installed in my
computer. Once in a long while (like every 6 months) I download the
latest NVidia drivers just in case, but never needed to do it because
of a problem so far.

ATI cards have historically been somewhat faster than their NVidia
counterparts, but if the price for this is having to wait for patches
for any game I want to play, forget it. I'll take the 60 FPS instead
of 62

Well I have had the opposite experience, I have had to go looking for
patches for my nvidia cards to get games to play, ATI has been perfect. So
really , to each his own I guess

And this is different to those irritating nvidia intros on every other game
released?

higgy.
LOL,... creative EA and nVidia should get a clue and let us escape
through those screens, seeing it 10-100+ times per game really starts
generating hate for the respective companies.

its the news of the moment
every pc gamer and even the media are all talking about it

ati payed 8 million so valve should say ati is best
again a scandal, and again involving valve
everything valve touches turns into filthy dirt

and how could ati pay that astronomical amount of money for
a single publisher for a single game and making it even
worse being half-life 2 and valve!
now i understand why fat lying gabe went to say ONLY ati
products properly run half-life 2... for 8 million he would
say anything!
again this shows how a greedy lying bastard gabe is

how many pc game titles could have been created with 8 million?
20? 30? probably even 40 pc game titles and ati choose to give
to a single one to a single publisher and to those who are doing
so much damage to pc games and pc gamers... valve!
what a disgrace! what a shame!

never again will i buy a ati product!
i regret so much choosing a radeon 9600 se as my graphic card
it will be for sure the last ati product i will own
ati is crap! and my graphic card sucks!
i will try my best to change it as soon as possible with a high
quality nvidia graphic card
for now on i'll only support the GREAT the BEST nvidia!
nvidia is the best!
they create the best products
they support many developers
they have a wide range of pc game titles they endorse
nvidia is the name of the best hardware company for pc games!
nvidia gives the best support in the industry for pc games!
long live nvidia!
long live pc games!
down with valve!
down with ati!
Happens a lot. The differnce with valve is the exclusive use of 16 and
24 bit textures (nVidia cards either had to revert to 16 bit or take
rather large perforance hit).

It's a consumer market and the customer is always right, losing sight
of that almost always hurts the company(ies). Between hurting nVidia
owners and online activation to install the bloody game, valve
alienated many of their customers.

I have the utmost respect for the people who make the cards and make
well polished exceptional games (both tasks are absolutely huge
undertakings), but in the grand scheme of things, there are too many
choices for gaming (super aggressive market and that is a good thing)
or I can simply walk away and pick up another hobby.

If you believe that to be the case your history only goes back to the Radeon
9700. Prior to that nvidia was on top for performance by a significant
margin.

Well i don't know about EA, but the nVidia one in GTA:SA is certainly
skippable. Start game, hold down left mouse button, next thing I see is
the menu - no screens for EAX and nVidia, nor the rockstar spraycan
logo.

I wish I could just turn the damn things OFF with an .ini setting of
command line parameter, but at least you can skip past them.

I know which one your talking about. I found a fix for the unpatched
(if there is a patch) game if you want it. Worked for me and make sure
you back up your original exe first.

Usually all you need to do is rename the movie file, or replace it with a an
empty file of the same name. Only a few games will spit the dummy.
Some have an ini file you can edit.

Sorry why is this a "scandal"? This is pretty common behaviour between
businesses. Do you think extras that come with cars etc. cost nothing?

The games industry is bigger than the movie industry, 8 million is probably
not a much as some seem to think it is.

its enough
yes i payed for half-life sierra best seller edition two
months ago and i had already the game in a previous edition
i'm very happy i did it and not have a bit of regret
half-life edition i bought is a PROPER retail pc games with
no steam infection!
and i did it cause first i'm a collector and second it was
the last time i could do it cause vivendi decided to stop
selling valve games, so it was to add to my collection and
in a way celebrate that great news
now what does that mean?
that means i'm not against valve the pc game developer
that means i'm not against the pc games valve creates
that means i did in the past support valve and their games
that means i like valve pc games
that means MY ONLY ISSUE IS STEAM!
that means if half-life 2 would be sold the same way with
no steam in it i would BUY IT!
that means if half-life 2 would be a PROPER retail pc game
i would BUY IT!
that means if half-life 2 would have the same selling and
playing and patching model as the first original classic
I WOULD SHUT UP AND NOT GO AGAINST VALVE!
bottom line what is the lesson we can take from me buying
again (second time) the original half-life in a PROPER
retail version? that i'm HONEST with no HIDDEN agenda and
my ONLY MOTIVATION is to COMPLAIN AGAINST STEAM!

you know why you hate me so much?
its cause you can't "BUY" me!
i'm untouchable!
i'm uncorruptable!
my only motivation is the passion for pc games and i will
never give up in defending it so with me you don't have a
chance and you will always LOSE!
