After Windows XP reload, video formats won't display in Media Player9...

....audio is present. They show up fine in alternate display software
(Nero 7.., has peacefully co-existed before).

Suggestions welcome

More: Took an update online to Media Player 11. Same symptoms. File
associations are set to default to media player.

Commercial DVDs display just fine.

Now I'm really confused:-)
