After Windows Update I Have No Sound

I have a Toshiba P105 S6177 Satellite and I run 32 bit Vista. The other day
Windows installed an update and I lost my sound, but was able to retrieve it
by going into sound and disabling the Conexant HD and enabling my originial
settings. Today, however, I lost sound again and my original option (sorry
don't remember what it is now) is no longer there. I just have the Conexant
HD for my speakers and an SPDIF Interface also conexant. I do not have
external speakers and nothing happens when I plug in head phones. I have no
sound what so ever. I've checked the Toshiba site and found nothing useful.
Can someone please help me? Is there a way I can do a system restore to a day
ago when everything worked just fine? I can't figure it out and I'm about
ready to chuck this whole thing and switch to mac. Thanks in advance!

Use System Restore to a point before the update.

Hi MSchaf3,

It seems as though Windows has automatically updated your audio driver. To
prevent this happening again (at least with this particular driver), you need
to manually run 'Windows Update'. Click on the start orb and type 'Windows
Update' into the search box and press enter/return. On the main 'Windows
Update' page click 'View available updates'. The update in question should be
listed. Right-click on it and select 'Hide update' from the menu that
appears. You will need to provide administrative credentials to continue.
Should you wish to restore that update, or any other(s) that you have hidden,
then from the main 'Windows Update' page select 'Restore hidden updates'. In
the list that appears, click to place a tick in the checkbox next to the
required update(s) and then click 'Restore'. Again, you will need to provide
administrative credentials.
