After I updated Windows XP Pro on 4\29\06, My laptop continually dumps memory
and reboots after a very short period of time. I notice this happens when I
am on a WI FI Network at the local coffee shop. However, when I am home on a
dial up connection, the laptop has not dumped memory and rebooted. I have
been on the dial up connection for more than an half hour.

Does someone have suggestions for this problem?

My earlier problem fixed the corrupt file message by disabling "offline
file" in folder options. Below is my original problem.

After updating Windows XP Pro on 4/29/06, my computer boots up to run
chkdsk utility which I ran. The computer still boots up to run chkdsk
and when I select to not run chkdsk each time, the computer will boot to
the user sign in and another dialog message box saying "The file or Directory
\Windows\csc\csc0.temp is corrupt and unreadable". I click "enter" twice,
once to log in and second to say ok to the corrput file. Then, I can run
Windows OK.

Did the update involve any hardware updates?

No, the update did not involve hardware. I just updated Windows XP Pro form
the microsoft site.

Note that the Windows update site can also include hardware updates -
was this option ticked?

I suggest look in the update Windows Update history and note down the
updates on that particular day.

You can then either use ADD/REMOVE to remove all these updates or see if
you can restore the system to pre update date. This way you can be sure
that it is the updates that has caused the problems.
