After updates - Wheel Mouse Quit

After installing Xp updates. My IntelliMouse wheel quit working.

I have reinstalled it, downloaded new drivers. After this the
Control Pannel does now show the MS IntellMouse, but the wheel
still does not work.

If this is not the correc forum, please excuse and tell me the
correct forum. Otherwise any help appreciated.

USB or PS/2 style connection?

Have you tried to completely clear out the "hidden" devices and all
mouse entries?

Here is a "batch" file so as to let Device Manager show the "hidden"
device:
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
cd %SystemRoot%\System32
start devmgmt.msc

Do not to forget to also check "Show hidden devices" when Device
Manager shows up.
 
Try another mouse and see if it will work, may be the Cat got the Mice,
while it was running on the Cord LOL.
 
Good idea to try another mouse, although it did quit working
after some windows updates. Installed a USB mouse (left the
ps2 mouse in also) and gues what, this morning they both work!!
????
