After uninstall of a program, IE 6 no longer works at all. Help!

Several weeks ago I bought Noron Antivirus 2006 with Norton GoBack 4.0 and it
slowed by PC down unbeliveably and caused it to lock up every time it hit
sleep mode. I Uninstalled GoBack 4.0 and ever since then my IE6 will not
start up and I get the following message immediately:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program:C:\ Program Files\Internet Explorer\ iexplore.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I am using Firefox temporarily to get to the internet. Everytime I try to
download an IE program, it says that it has found a newer version already on
my computer so it stops. Everything else I find tells me to turn on the
Automatic Update feature. That feature is already turned on but IE doesn't
work for iy yo get updates. Please help.

Thanks,
Lee

I tried Symantec Support when it first hugely slowed my computer down (10
mins. on a reboot) and locked up every time it went to sleep. Becasue I was
not getting a specific Symantec error, they didn't seem to think it was
theire problem. IE6 was still working properly at that time. It was only
when I removed the GoBack 4.0 (which solved my lock up problem and sped the
computer up a bit) that the IE6 started to fail. Since the code I get now is
a Microsfot cosde and not Symantec, I am guessing the uninstall too some part
of IE6 away with it.

Try uninstalling the Google toolbar using Control Panel-Add/Remove.
