We too experienced this. Check out MS Knowledge Base
Article 824288 and if you're a Novell environment TID
10084921 (though it is unrelated to Novell). Seems the
MUP.sys in sp4 is bad. MS has a hotfix for this (you have
to call to get it), but I hear it slows down networking
quite a bit

We are backrevving mup.sys to the SP3 version and all has
been fine since.
