After installing 15 updates the computer won't shut down

Hello
I just got my new PC and run Windows update. There were 15 important updates for XP Pro. I installed them all at once. Now when I click to shut down the computer, the monitor turns dark, but the computer still runs. What can do? shall I remove the 15 updates, install them one by one and then make sure power off works?

Hi

If you don't know which particular Update has caused your problem, a good idea would be uninstall them, and then - as you have suggested - re-install them one-by-one. Although this may take some time it is worth it to find out which Update is the culprit.

make sure you didn't goto standby. That is the 1st option in the windows xp
turn off computer menu. Actually click shut down

The box for APM, adv. power mgmnt, had been deselected during the update process for some reason.
