I'm using Outlook 2002. I made a test connection to an exhange email
account, and then deleted that, because I'm not usually connected to
that server. However before I deleted that email acct, The first time I
opened outlook after disconnecting from the server, I got a message like
"Can't connect to exchange server" or something like that. Deleted the
exachange based email acct. But now, I have two "regular" (external pop
ISP) eamil accts that are "dead"; ie in the send recieve setup dialog
they have red x's on them and all options are greyed. Plus in the lower
right hand corner of the outlook main window, there is a network
connection icon with a red x on it too. I'm not sure that these failures
are due to the experment with Exchange but they might. Also, in the
email account dialog, neither of these two accts will make a test
connection to the pop server, failing only on "log on to incoming mail
server". But there are several other email accts that do use those pop
servers, the passwords are ok, etc.

Create a brand new profile (control panel | mail) and recreae your accounts
and see if they work.

That was a good test - I created one of the accts and it worked fine.

But it'd be a lot of work to recreate my main profile in it's entirety.
Is there a way to fix my existing profile? Repair found no errors.

Hard to say. I'd just recreate it.
