After boot screen no display

i just installed windows xp pro on my new celeron system
and after the boot screen appears the screen goes blank
but the monitor is on and the mouse doesnt show up and
also the keyboard freezes
is this a known problem
if so is there a way to fix it?
please help
 
This is purely a guess but try to reboot into safe mode
hit F8 key right after reboot. Can you use the arrows
(between letters and numerber pad
on right side of keyboard) or tab key and enter to
navigate. Sometimes you can use tab key to move
highlighted area and enter to select. If that fails might
try reboot when first screen appears hit delete key to
enter bios and check to see if keyboard and mouse support
are enabled again you have to use arrows and enter key.
