Aero window-fade effects missing

When I first installed Vista on my computer, the fade-in fade-out animations
for the windows was working fine, but after about a month or so of use,
they've stopped appearing. My version is Home Premium, and my machine is
currently rated at 4.4 in the performance information dialogue. I have not
manually disabled animations, and I've looked in the options that allow them
to be turned off, so by all indications they should be working. I also still
get Aero Glass and all the other effects, so it doesn't seem to be a system
limitation. At first I figured it was a bug and waited for a patch, but it's
been a few weeks and I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this and knows
what to do. If you need it, my graphics card is an nVidia GeForce 7900, and
I'm running the latest driver for it (100.65 if memory serves).

It is common knowledge that nVidia is having major problems getting their
products to work with Vista. I am by no means an expert but I would suggest
that this may have something to do with your problem. However, when you
purchased Windows Vista you also paid for the support for the OS. If you
purchased a retail version of Vista it is Microsoft's responsibility to see
that everything works. Call them before your 90 days have passed or you must
pay for their support. If you purchased the OS from an OEM it is their
responsibility to fix the problem. Call them.

Click Start > right click "Computer" > click Properties > under Task > click
Advanced Settings > click Continue on the UAC dialog. On the System
Properties dialog, click the Advanced tab > under Performance click Settings
select the Visual Effects tab, there you will see a list of options for
managing the the Visual Effects in Vista.

I've looked there too, and all of the boxes are enabled. I'm not sure where
else to look for those settings, but it looks like the effects should work,
they just don't.

My one reason to doubt a driver problem is that all of the other graphical
effects are working fine and I've experienced minimal graphical issues
besides this. Still, I'll try reverting to my old driver if I can find it so
I can see if it really is the problem.
