NO IT"S VISTA! THIS IS THE WORST OPERATING SYSTEM I HAVE EVER USED.
EVERYTHING I INSTALL EVENTUALLY QUITS WORKING OR LOSSES IT'S SETTINGS OR
TEMPLATES. VISTA SUCKS

Guys, I believe it has something to do with Windows Vista Validation!

I, and countless others, encountered the same problem when tried to validate
our windows (product key), there is a problem with windows (not the key!)

Exactly the same thing happened to me.

My laptop is doing the same thing. I bought it about 2 weeks ago and it
worked fine the first couple of days. Now all of a sudden it says windows
aero is not working and won't let me access my installed programs. It also
says my copy of windows is not genuine, but I went to the website and
validated it several times. I'm beginning to see why I haven't heard anything
good about Vista.

My problems started after installing Update 7.0.6000.381 Aero stopped working
and now it says my windows is not genuine. Has anyone else installed this

I have exactly the same symptoms.... had my lap top a month...In the bottom
right hand corner of your desk top does it say this copy of windows Vista is
not genuine. Wish i'd bought an apple!

Hello all~~
Am new in here~
I was reading these Post and I had this also happen to me!
I bought a new computer, was so proud of myself for saving every penny to
buy it, got it home, plugged it in and things seemed to work fine! Then Aero
stopped working!! Talk about MAD!! I was fit to be tied!
I have been online and working on Website since 1995...been through 6
computers...this is 7th...and I wish now...I never bought the dang thing!!!!
Never seen anything like this before!! So many restrictions!! Damn...you
would think that I do not own the dang thing!!
About Aero...it is super nice WHEN IT WORKS!!!
I do Graqphics of course....building Websites....so I use a Graphic program
too!!
When I turn on my Paint Shop Pro though...all of Aero stops working until I
shut down the Computer completely and reboot!!
This is totally stupid!!
This is only one of BEEFS gang!!
I got plenty more!!
But I think if this is such a "great new system" this "Vista" thing...and I
call it "THING" because I really do not like fighting with my own
computer...DAILY...than why in the name of God doesn't things work
properly????
There has to be an answer somewhere!!!
And by the way...reading all the Post here....did some of you really get a
RESTORE Disc with your new computer??
That was something I did not get!! So what do you do if you CRASH????
Surely this system is NOT Crash Proof!!!
Are we who did not receive a Restore Disc simply suppose to run out and buy
one?
After paying a lot of money for a brand new computer??
Or maybe we are suppose to toss the dang thing through the wall??
This Blows my Mind!!!
No Restore Disc!!!
That is really bad business!!

All of Windows 98...all the way through to WindowsME beats this new Vista

It sounds like you forgot to do your homework and you just haven't taken the
time to learn the new operating system or your new computer yet? Did you
move from Windows ME directly to Vista? If so, you have a lot of learning to
do. This is not a Vista problem.

Did you check for compatibility with Vista before you installed that version
of PSP? This is not a Vista problem.

Have you checked your computers user manual to see what recovery options are
installed on the computer? Do you need to make recovery disks from a
recovery partition installed on the computer? This is not a Vista problem.

Vista does not include any hand holding software. You need to purchase that
separately.

Well just for the heck of it I tried validating again tonight and all of a
sudden it worked! It re-validated and when I rebooted the desktop pirated
warning had disappeared. Very strange it must have had something to do with
the validation software here on the microsoft site. SO TRY IT AGAIN PEOPLE
MAYBE IT WILL WORK FOR YOU! GOOD LUCK.

I bought myself a new computer last week, it already had Vista Home Premium
installed on it, and it worked fine for a week. Now suddenly, all Aero
functions stopped working, the 3D flip view, the glass effects, even the
window-color functions are gone. Could someone please help me?

I have the same problem with Vista Ultimate. Worked fine on my PC for 3
weeks then suddenly decided that I do not have a genuine copy. Will not let
me run update either. My copy of Vista is genuine and has been validated. I
must agree with Casey - Vista has been nothing but trouble! I wish I had
stayed with XP - also problematic but not as bad as Vista

I happen to know full well where the CAPS LOCK is...how do you think I used
all CAPS!
I don't need a Shrink as you put it....I just need to know how to control
this new Vista thing~~that you all seem to think is the "cat's MEOW!"

the machine together!

We go out and buy these new machines, unaware of the fact that when we get

Just so you do know~~My CAPS were turned on for a reason!!
I am not what you refer to as a "numb nuts"...I was in TOTAL areement with a
comment made here about this operating system!
I do have a right to agree with whomever I want? You have no right to call
anyone any names!
There are quite a few people all over this board having probelms with this
system! If you can't seem to see that, than God help you!
Some of us have paid too much for a system that is soo dang hard to use!!
That is how I feel! And I do have every right to feel this way!
My computer is 8 days old...and for the past 8 days, I have done nothing but
fight with the whole thing!! I can't put anything I use on this
computer...and the computer is what I work on everyday!! I do Websites!
I have to have the control of my own personal computer!
I don't like a company controlling me...such as Microsoft has set out to do
with everyone!
Some of us will fight !! And I am one!
I will keep this computer...and I WILL CONTROL IT!!!
It belongs to me...not Microsoft!
I have never seen a system run so badly as Vista...and buddy I have been
around since we all were using just DOS!

You are right~~Vista Areo does go off when you turn on PSP 9!! BUT~~when you
are finished using PSP 9...and you turn it off...Areo returns!!!
I also know that PSP 9 works fine on this machine otherwise.
So Areo goes off~~it does tell you that it is going off~~that is something.
It may not shut down with PSP10 or PSP11...but I was not able to install my
PSP10 on this computer at all!
I have not tried PSP 11...but I am not ready to even use that version yet.
I know PSP 10 fine...but it simply will not go on...and I gave up.
I can live without Areo operating while I am using my PSP 9...that doesn't
bother me really.
I think what bothers me far more is the complete sound going away when I
installed the newest version of WinAmp!! Now that blew me away!!
I had sound....but after installing WinAmp....there is no sound at all.
I have never really liked using Windows Media at all...and for many years
now...I have been using WinAmp. The one I installed was suppose to be okay
for Vista...according to the WinAmp Page online...but I can tell you I lost
all sound after installing it.
I even tried to play a song through Windows Media...and still there was no
sound!
Of course I did not uninstall WinAmp before trying Windows Media...that
could be the problem...but in my way of thinking...we really should be able
to use whatever Player we choose to use. Some prefer Windows Media...some
prefer WinAmp~~
I really don't think that it is right that so many things cause so many
problems on this operating system.
I have never seen one so hard to use. Even DOS was easier than this!
At least we had control than...but not now~
Another thing~~
You mentioned Restore Software~~
I wondered about that. I did not get any at all with my computer and this
is the first time ever this has happened. When I bought WindowsME...as I
remember...the package was there but the software was not...I called Compaq
right away on that...and they were super nice and got that out to me right
away on Special Delivery! What a difference time makes!
Now we get nothing!
I guess if we crash...we can go find something else to do...or toss our
computer out the window...or break down and buy something that we really
should have gotten when we purchased the new machine!!
Who knows~~
I prefer the older systems really...even without all the updates!!
I am just so happy I did not get rid of my other computer with WindowsME on
it!! It is rightr behind me...and going to be hooked up ASAP!! I need it
for my freedom!!
This one was merely bought to give me more Memory room...as WindowsME maxes
out on 512MB's.
But as far as hard drive space...my other computer has 4 hard drives in it
and on it!!
I just really hate to think I spent all this money to be so confused!!
Oh well~~

There is no where to be see step 4. I did everything else but i cant seem to
find the User Account Control dialog.
