Aero failure after upgrade.

Hello,
I just updates my 32 bit installation of Windows Vista Ultimate and the Aero
theme no longer works. After two failed attempts at upgrading (the Windows
Upgrade itself didn't go), as well as my video card driver upgrade failing
once (two 8500s in SLI), I went to download both current updates manually
from their respective distributors. I installed both updates with no
problems.
However, when I tried to re-enable SLI, my screen went blank, then my cursor
appeared. I could not do anything, including alt-F4 to end program. I also
tried pushing escape to cancel the setting. I hit control-alt-delete and
tried running task manager, which did not show. I then went to accessibility
options and checked the option to enable high-contrast, in hopes of
refreshing my display. I was able to see my desktop again and switched to
Vista Basic theme. I have tried everything but a system-rollback to before I
updated and still cannot get anything to respond while using Aero. Any ideas,
or should I try a rollback?

I can't really help you with your problem. But for Task Manager, try
CTRL-SHIFT-ESC next time.

It sounds like a driver issue - Aero desktop won't even be an option unless
you have 'enough resources' - if you have a seperate video card then you
have - I suggest you persue getting the correct driver installed for your
video card - once you have the right driver Vista will let you run Aero
desktop

Thanks, I will give it a try.
