Hi people, Im looking for a little of advice as Im stuck on what to do. I
use a webbased email service through OE and I have never had any problems,
but recently I have been getting so much spam and emails with virus's in
sent to me. Im getting nearly 20 a day at peak! Everytime I get the email
norton protect flashes up to inform me that it got rid of the virus in the
email. This is starting to get on my nerves. Im only using dial up, so
constantly d/l these messages is taking time. Every email i get the
attachment has been deleated and its a text file saying the following:

Norton AntiVirus removed the attachment: message.scr.
The attachment was infected with the W32.Netsky.P@mm virus.

Its allways the same virus it removes. Does anyone have any advice? I guess
I could change email address but I use it for everything and it would be a
major pain in the a$$ to change everything around. I have done a full virus
scan on my system and it comes up clear, but recently my computer has been
randomly freezing during use, and the only way to get it back is to
ctrl-alt-del to bring up the windows task manager then cancel it, then
eveyrhting works again.

This is sending me nuts, does anyone have a clue what I can do please?

Log onto Hotmail with your browser. CLick on the mail tab and there's
an options button on the right side. Create a custom filter. Create the
filter so that if the subject line contains the work "undeliver" it
moves the e-mail straight to trash.

Works great for me and hasn't filtered anything that is genuine. I
created an extra folder to test it for 2 weeks first and the only thing
in there were messages with attachments of the latest windows
crippleware.

http://www.mailwasher.net/

I don't know but I think you should be able to use Mailwasher on your Web
based email account.

I use Mailwasher the free version on my POP3 account using Outlook. But
what I did was take Outlook or OE out of its automatic pulling of emails
at start-up and on a timed basis. That way, the AV that I use doesn't
sound off about a virus all the time in the emails, because Outlook is
pulling the emails on its own.

I use Mailwasher to filter the emails and delete them at the ISP's POP3
server. MW also has AV logic that will notify as you view the emails at
the server.

Because, Outlook has been taken out of its auto pulling of emails, I must
use the Send/Recv button to actually send or receive the emails. To send
the email, one uses the Send button and the email is held at the Outbox
folder. And then one uses the Send/Recv button to send it from the
Outbox.

By using MW, one has some control of what is being pulled to the Inbox
and what the AV will react to with a virus in the email, because of the
Send/Recv button being used, and the ones you didn't want were deleted by
MW before you pulled the to OE.

Hopefully, MW will work for you.

Duane :)
