Hi , i've bought a new laptop and i want to transfer across, all my old
emails to my new laptop , as theres quite a lot of important information in
the emails spanning around 18months , i really need to keep them.

is there a data file i can copy across to my new laptop so that it has all

Advice welcomed.

right-click on the root of your Personal Folders file, Select "Properties
for Personal Folders", Select Advanced and locate where the default PS is in
Filename". You copy that file over to the new machine. You can either import
the data or open the PST ad copy items over. Note that you might have other
PST files on your computer (possibly in the same directory) that have
information in them. archive.pst is one. Do the same with archive.pst if
required.

Thank you for your reply , i'm running outlook express , i've made a search
via the standard xp search for files and folders , but its not turned up any
pst files , one thing i can add though , is that i am using a spam filter
that works very well called K9 , i'm not sure this would of renamed the file
, i doudt it though.

So i'm a bit stuck....

You're also in the wrong group.
Outlook Express has nothing to do with Outlook.
This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a completely different
program despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
outlook express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x

A good website for information on OE is:
