Hi,

When I visit select sites I get a popup which in the source indicates
that it's from Advertising.com. I have run adaware and spybot and it's
still there. I'm aware of the host file solution, but can someone
explain to me why I simply can't wipe the functionality from my
machine? It seems the host file solution is a workaround which
shouldn't be necessary. Or am I missing something?

Nick

Nick,
"why I simply can't wipe the functionality from my machine"
What function? It's a pop-up generated from a website you are visiting.
Are you using a pop-up blocker?

A HOSTS file is the easiest method (see below)
or
You could add "advertising.com" to the Restricted Zone

Yeah, I use the google toolbar, which works great for everything else.
That's why I assume the popup is somehow being generated by something
on my machine. That's the 'functionality' I'm talking about. So, as I
said, I understand how and why the host file works, but I'd like to
get whatever it is on my machine, off my machine.
