Hi,
I have just installed Vista on my PC.
For net connection I use a USB DSL modem [ZyXEL Prestige 600 series].

When I try to connect to internet, it connects easily, but after some
time, apparently for no reason it turn the connection from "Access:
Local and Internet" to "Access: Local only".

This effectively disconnects me from the net.
After this the only way to restore connection is to physically plug out
the usb socket and reconnect it again.

I have tried to turn on and off the windows firewall with out any change.

Any help?

Regards,
Kumropatas

In my opinion, USB net connections don't work well.
Switch to an Ethernet setup.

I had the same problem with my Speedtouch modem, to cure it I moved my modem
from my USB hub to the back of my PC and it hasn't lost connection since.

You could also check in device manager that all power saving functions are
turned off on USB.

Hope that helps a little,

Marcus

KB932246 - March 2007 Windows Vista Application Compatibility Update

This update killed my ADSL-connection. After taking it I could not reach any DNS-server although I could get an IP-adress from my ISP gateway.

Hence my local network worked fine but I could not reach the internet.
When I uninstalled this update and rebooted, the connection worked fine again.
