Adobe Reader 6.0.1

Hi all. An update for Adobe Reader 6.0 is available for download on the
Adobe web site. I am using Reader 6.0 with a few plug-ins that apply to it.
Should all of this be uninstalled before the new version is installed?
Strangely, today the Updates tab in 6.0 does not report the existence of a
new version. It did yesterday. Please address any replies to the news
group. My email address is false.

Hi:

I have version 6.0 also installed and I ran a check for Updates. When I
did it said that the update had been installed and to restart my computer
before use. So apparently when I checked for updates it automatically
installed the update. Go to Tools and scroll down to Updates and check on
it.and let it run and install if required or it will advise I am sure if not
required...meaning that you have already installed the update.

Hi all

I just checked Help, About Adobe Reader. It states that the version number
is 6.0.0 and if I run check for updates there are no updates available for
me.

Cheers. Please address any replies to the news group. My email address is
false. Bert Smith

That is interesting. If you go to the Adobe Reader download page, it
states the latest version is 6.0.1. But, from within 6.0.0 it says
there are no updates available.

Adobe may have made minor tweaks (hence the need to increment the
version number, but expressing the insignificance of the change by
incrementing in the third decimal place). Important enough for all new
users, but but important enough to have it propagate quickly. That's ok.

Very true. I did not think of that.

I originally used 'Update' from within the program, and got the 'Updating'
message for a very short while (on 56k dial-up). That does seem to be the
case, that it's a minor update. I only downoaded the 6.0.1 to save to disc.
