Adobe Flash Player 10 and Vista

I am trying to install Adobe Flash Player 10. The file seems to install and
download properly -- during and after install I get no error messages and
the Adobe website tells me installation was successful.

However -- when I go to YouTube, I cannot play videos.

There is no Flash Player icon on my desktop and, when I go to Start > All
Programs, I do not see Flash Player as an installed program. However, if I
go to control panel > Uninstall, Adobe Flash Player 10 is on the list of
programs that can be installed.

Any suggestions?

which browser are you using?
there are 2 IE browsers| IE 32 bit and IE 64 bit|
if you are using a 64 bit IE, you will not be able to play youtube
videos.
go toC:\ProgramFiles(x86)\InternetEplorer\iexplore and try installing
the flash player| it will work| If you specifically want to use IE 64
bit, then there is no flash player yet but you can use 64 bit java
version for this browser.

Hope that works ! ! !
Dinesh.

Thanks. I don't know if it's a 32 bit or 64 bit browser. How can I tell?

Meanwhile, I downloaded the new Google browser -- Chrome -- and it played
YouTube videos immediately.

Hi, again, A-non-i-moose.

Once again (as I said in your other post, "Okay, I give up": <Win>+<Break>

The System Properties window will also tell you if it is a 64-bit operating
system. If it doesn't say 64-bit, then it's 32-bit.

Since you are having trouble installing Flash, you probably have Vista x64
installed - and Adobe is VERY LATE in making Flash work in 64-bit OSes.

Hi, one more time, A-non-i-moose.

Oops! I'm glad Dinesh gave you the right answer: Help | About Internet
Explorer. If it's the 64-bit browser, the Version line will say "64-bit
Edition". The 32-bit version doesn't mention bits.

My answer works to see if the OS is 64-bit, but you were asking about the
browser.

Any x64 version of Vista comes with TWO browsers. You should find them at:
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe - the 64-bit browser
C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe - the 32-bit browser

When you click the blue "e", the 32-bit browser runs by default. To run the
64-bit browser, you must navigate to that folder and double-click on it.
Or, of course, you can pin it to the Start menu or to the Quick Launch or
create an icon on the Desktop... But, unless you go to the extra trouble,
you'll get the 32-bit version every time.

(My 5-year-old grandson loves to watch YouTube toy train and John Deere
videos in the 32-bit IE8 beta on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64.)
