Tried download an e-book and when I went to the screen to
get into my machine, I got the message cannot find file
TFP 1732 to open windows. needs to know what program
created it. I have to manually select explorer or the
web will automtically find it. This just suddenly
appeared and I am worried. Do I need to take the machine
in and have it looked at--is it the worm or what? The
download on adobe said the file manager would take two
hours to download. It is 6.0. I paid $12.00 for this e-
book and am unable to download. Please let me know what
the problem is asap. Do I need this worm security
patch? I don't have antivirus stuff because I am poor
and am lucky to have a computer at all. Thank you C.

You absolutely need antivirus software. www.grisoft.com has a free edition
of AVG 6.0. Get it ASAP and keep it updated - daily, if possible (it has an
auto-update scheduler). You also need a firewall. There's a freebie at
www.grisoft.com for personal use. I like it better than the XP firewall,
although if you wish you can just enable that one.

Sounds like you got the worm.

Install:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.asp
As soon as you can!. You are running the 32-bit edition; you'd know if you
weren't, trust me.

For the removal tool for the worm, see
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html

Then go to WindowsUpdate to pick up the latest updates:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. (You should do this about once a month
anyway, at least)
