Adobe Acrobat Reader

Cannot get Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 to run. Have Windows
XP Professional and Internet Explorer 6.0.

Downloaded Adobe Acrobat 6 but cannot get it to run.
Whether as stand-alone program or through interenet
explorer, Adobe Acrobat just hangs.

Any suggestions on settings in Windows or Explorer that
will enable me to use Adobe Acrobat Reader?

Thanks

First, have you made sure your download isn't corrupted by downloading it
again. Second, did you download it from www.adobe.com or some other site.
If some other site, try the link.

Be sure to run a virus scan?

What happens when you try to run Adobe Reader, any error messages? You
might also check to see if its creating an error in event viewer, This
might lead to finding the cause. Open Administrative Tools in Control
Panel, open Even Viewer, look for an error(s) that correspond to trying to
open Adobe Reader, double click and see if you can discern anything from the
information in the box that appears after you double click.

In the past, I've run into this trouble as I hadn't agreed to Adobe's EULA
(it appears the first time the software is run) or a prompt for updates is
hidden in the background.

Sounds like a good call .. that one caught me the first time too (the
window doesn't show in the taskbar, and I had tweakui turn off the
'steal focus' effects, so even if it tried that, it failed).
