ADMT v3

Hello all,

When I attempt to migrate passwords using ADMT v3 between a W2k source
and a W2K3R2 target. I get "Unable to establish a session with the
export server. RPC server is unavailable." when I select the Password
Export Server.

MS KB suggests this is a name resolution thing, however, I can't find
one.

I can resolve the export server from the target domain using both
nslookup and nblookup using any DNS server or WINS server --regardless
of it's domain affliation.

I can resolve the all the target domain DC's using both nslookup and
nblookup using any DNS server or WINS server --regardless of it's
domain affliation.

netdiag tests come back clean for each of the DC's involved (source and
target)
dcdiag tests are clean for all the DC's involved (source and target)

There are no firewalls between the source and target.
There are no host files in play.
There are no LMhosts files in play.

ADMT works fine otherwise, groups, users w/o passwords, computers all
migrate fine.

What am I missing?

Any insight is greatly apprieciated.

Hello Tim,

i'm experiencing the same problem:
i get the message
" unable to open a session on the password export server. access refused."

have you been through the problem ?

Patman,

Yes I did get it resolved.
We opened up a incident with MS. After two days of tracing they had me
uninstall the PES service and re-install it on the PDC emulator in the
source domain. That resolved the problem, though nobody could explain
why.

Your message is bit different. "Access Refused" sounds more like a
permissions thing.
Make sure the PES service is running under an account from the target
domain.
