Help, I am having a problem migrating passwords with ADMTv2 and I don't know
what I have done wrong.
Scenario
======
Migrating one domain to another domain in an INTER-FOREST migration with the
ADMT'v2 tool. SIDs ,ust be migrated as well. Source 2000 PDC is in a windows
2000 domain. Target 2003 PDC is in a 2003 Domain.
What I Did
========
1. Set up a two-way trust. Set administrator of each be
builtin\administrators of other's domain.
2. Everyone's on native mode. 2003 domain has SID Filtering switched OFF.
3. On Target PDC, install admt and create admt key for PES server
4. On Source PDC, installed admt, and install passwd migration using KEY
from step (3).
5. On Source PDC, created the empty SOURCEDOMAIN$$$ group
6. On Source PDC, NET Localgroup changes for "Pre-Windows 2000 Compatbile)
7. On Source PDC, regedited TcpipClientSupport (this entry was added
manually - no previous entry existed.) (rebooted afterwards)
8. On Source PDC, regedited the AllowPasswordMigration key.
Error
====
When I tried to migrate the domain, from the target domain, and chose to
migrate the passwords it says:
"Information could not be retreived from the selected Password DC (xxxxxx).
The server may not be operational. Please select another Password DC."
Summary Note
==========
If anyone can help it would be appreciated. Moreover, finding any definitive
document on this migration from 2k to 2k3 is tricky. Unless someone has
written one.
