Administrator username

Hi there

I am running a NOVELL network, and I have created myself a new account
on my XP Pro personal desktop. Now, whenever I log into the NOVELL
network, my username is ADMINISTRATOR, but then it asks me to relog in
on my windows desktop, where I use my new account. Quite frustrating,
but it's acceptable.

The annoyance steps in because if I ever want to rename my username from
'brattex' back to ADMINISTRATOR, it won't let me, because it says
"Administrator" is already in use, but it's not on the list of usernames
already there!

Any ideas? I would just like to rename my 'brattex' login back to
'administrator', but it won't let me...

Bryan.

You can't change an account name to an existing account name. And unless
you explicitly removed it afterwards, there *is* an Admininstrator account
in XP. It's created during installation, and is not optional.

Where are you looking for the list of usernames? By default, the welcome
screen does not display the Administrator account. And it is not always
listed in Control Panel > Users, even when it exists.

However, if you right click on My Computer and choose Manage, then under
Local Users and Groups choose Users, you should see it.

I suspect the problem arises becasue the computers alredy have a user
called administrator. Use a diffrent user name, like admin.
