Administrator Password

I have just installed XP, no problem set up 3 users with a password for the
administrator but not for the other users. No problem booting up, just
selected user ~ no password requested , all OK ~ everything working.

Then I installed SP2, now when I boot up it goes to a login screen which
shows one of the users and asks for a password, which I don't have !!!!!!!
I have tried a blank password and that doesn't work.

How can I logon and set / reset the password.

If I do logon with a blank password I get a desktop with no icons and the
only item on the taskbar is my network connection. there is no start button
or programes, the only functioning thing I can get up is the windows
explorer.

Assuming that none of the account you referred to is the built in Windows
Administrator account then:
Also the password for the built in Windows Administrator account is normally
blank (none).

In XP Home, boot the computer into Safe Mode. Do this by repeatedly tapping
the F8 key as the computer is starting up. This will get you to the right
menu. Navigate using your Up arrow key; the mouse will not work here. Once
in Safe Mode, you will see the normally hidden Administrator account. The
default password is a blank.

In XP Pro, you do not need to go into Safe Mode. At the Welcome Screen,
do/press the
Ctrl-Alt-Del keys twice to get the classic Windows logon box. Type in
"Administrator" (without the quotes) and whatever password you assigned
(default is no password)
when you set up Windows.

Once your in then:
Start/Run/type in:Control Userpasswords2 and press OK
Next click on the Advanced tab and then click Manage Passwords.
