OK...this may sound like a dumb question, but here goes anyway...

I set up our desktop (XP) with me (the dad) as the administrator and a
seperate user name for each of my children as well as my wife. Now,
everything I read says the "administrator" should not be tied to a frequent
user.

So...can I go back and change my user setting (dad) to non-administrator,
set up an administrator account that nobody will use WITHOUT messing up all
my settings, files, etc. that I've already established with the "dad" account?

Hope this makes sense...don't flame me...I'm just trying to learn things.

Thanks.

first account(DAD) that you set up manually did you do it thru control
panel or just rename the account you were in when you did it??? If you set
it up manually the actual administrator account that you were working in
when you did this went into hiding............its still there but only
accessible under "safe Mode" and I would not change a thing.

Ok good. Thanks. Yes, I set it up through the control panel. I guess I
was/am confused because the "Dad" account has administrator priveleges, so I
thought that meant it was the actual administrator account. But you're
saying the actual administrator account is still there, just hidden, right?

Yes.............try it
restart computer
Hit F8 as soon as you see the XP and keep tapping
