I have re-intsalled XP Pro after having trouble to log in due to some
registry problem. Now I have one user set as Administartor while one limited
User Account. The problem is that my account set up as administrator is not
shown on the log in screen. I can log in as the limited user but cant do many
operations. One thing to note is that files and settings I saved as
Administrator are not lost and even when I log in as limited user, I have
these in my documents folder. Can anybody help?

Try tapping ctrl+alt+del twice at the welcome screen, once you've logged in
as admin you can alter or create accounts as you see fit.

Try this tweak from MVP Kelly's Site, Line 5 Right hand side:

If I understand it right, this will show the *default* Administrator account
on the Welcome screen. You should create an account under your own name (with
admin privileges if req.) You say you have 2 accounts set up, is this in
addition to the default Administrator A/c?

Dear Martin,
Thanks a lot for your concern. I have come across with the following facts:
I have three accounts set on my computer, the built in admin account, which
i can log in, the second admin account named "Faisal" (previously set up by
me) and a third user account named "Family" which i had set up for my family
people to use. Three problems identified so far:
# 1: At the welcome screen, only "Family" is displayed.
# 2" At the typical logon screen, when I type "Faisal" and key in the
password, it says "Your local policy does not permit you to logon
interactively".
# 3: When I log in using "Family" Account, it logon to the "Faisal" account
instead. I have come to know this, as the "my documents" folder and all the
settings contain data, saved under the "Faisal" account.
Sorry for the verbosity, but can you help me with these, especially the # 3 ?

You should not be operating with the default administrator account. If
that is the case create another account with admin privileges and copy
the data from the administrator account you have been using. Keep the
administrator account as fall back in case problems arise with the other
admin account.

You should not be using the account called 'Administrator' for general
production, and once you have created a regular user account the
'Administrator' one gets hidden. You need to hit CTL-ALT-DEL twice at
the Welcome, so as to get the logon dialog, and enter Administrator (and
any password you set) there. Then make a regular user account *with
administrator status* and transfer files over to it. That will then
appear at welcome, and you can log on to it for any day to day admin
needs, keeping 'Administrator' in reserve for emergencies

I have created an account with Administrator status for my everyday use
(and other accounts with lesser privileges), but the account named
"Administrator" still appears on the login screen. Why?

It is possible to force it to appear (and it will in Safe Mode). Use
TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from (if you have installed XP SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Its Logon page has a 'Show accountname on Welcome Screen' for each
account; maybe something has made that setting for 'Administrator' You
only want the accounts you regularly use (and BTW uncheck any there for
'ASPNET' which is an auxiliary account used by .NET)
